Match report by ICE CaNNoN*AUS*: Well it was a much awaited match, *AUS* vs *AIF*. The 2 teams had not met since the old days of Land Warrior, *AIF* have an almost perfect record in the DF series, only defeated once in Land Warrior, never defeated in Task Force Dagger, and leading up this game, they had won all but 1 match in BHD. The last time *AUS* had pulled off a victory against *AIF* was many years ago in the days of DF2. Tonight promised to be a big match. *AUS* undefeated in this OGN BHD CTF ANZAC 8v8 tournament so far, and *AIF* with one lost to *RA*. We started the first map, and got on top immediately, we ran quick flags, grabbed psps and started killing. We had the slight upperhand for most of that map, after taking a 3 flag lead we went flag for flag until near the end. The clock was ticking down, so *AUS* just defended out the flags with all they could. *AIF* picked up then dropped the flags countless times, and banked a couple as well. But that wasnt enough to take the first map, *AUS* winning 11 flags to 8. Pumped up, we headed into the second map, and the game was slightly in *AIF*'s favour for most of it. They immediately started getting into spots to cut off our runners from getting far from our spawn. They were all over us at one stage, but we miraculously managed to keep bagging flags. The scores were locked at 11 -11 with 12 flags ending the game, both teams last flags were picked up at almost the same time, running for the finish, *AUS*'s flag runner Loon was cut down, just after *AIF*'s was accidentally murdered, with the murderer leaving the game (most likely punted), then *AIF* managed to pick up the flag again, and run home, all of *AUS*'s attack was knocked out, I attempted to hop on a roof and cut the runner off, but had my head shot off as soon as I saw the runner. *AIF* won the map 12 to 11. Still confident, we went into the 3rd map hoping to take away a decent victory. That we did, with the scores 7-1 at one stage, we were flying ahead, however *AIF* fought back and evened the scores a bit, but the map ended up 12-8. The next map with the sides swapped, *AUS* new that they only had to lose by a small margin, or win to take the match. *AIF* won the fight for the spawn point, and took the upper hand from there. Its amazing how 1 battle can often determine the match, this was one of those battles. *AIF* was ahead 7-3 at one stage, and keeping *AUS* in their spawn. *AUS* never managed to take back the middle spawn till right at the end, when it was already too late. *AUS* still managed to run flags as *AIF* had in the previous map, and just ran enough to secure a match win. *AIF* won the last map 12-7, 1 flag short of a tie. *AUS* took the map 2 maps 41 flags to *AIF*'s 2 maps 40 flags. Doesnt get much closer than that. Well Done too all that played, thanks for the games. |
