*AUS* vs *OZI*

Summary

Just a friendly game of flagball between the two teams. To be quite honest, I didn’t even realise it was on and turned up 5 mins before the end of practice to be told I was in the game taking place in half an hour or so. Good timing J. Anyways, this was my first game for AUS as work, hockey and other commitments have kept me out of putting my hand up for oceanic games. Team tonight was Camo, Ballistic, Napalm, Aussie Dog and Zak. JohnBoy and Slaughter attempted to be our sixths, but server problems kept them out. This was ok since their sixth seem to have the same problem, so a good game of five on five was on the cards. The BFG hosted, with no lag complaints as far as I’m aware (except from Sl@ughter but that just seemed to be affecting players 11 and 12).

This first map sees you starting from the opposite teams flag bay and having to basically run in a straight line to the flag then continue to your flag bay. OZI had our match in this game, winning it 3 to 1 from memory, with the third flag scored right at the end when we let our guard down. Stryker was pretty quiet tonight in all games, and it was his teammates: blade and m@son doing most of the damage. Right from early on we all pretty much picked up on who would be doing what job within our team – Camo, Ballistic and I attacking the flag and assaulting their runners, while Napalm and Dog hung back and sniped/covered. First game saw us running decoys too which was pretty good and confused them a lot of the time. Sending a scout forward to clear the way for the flag bearer, and if he went down, telling the flag bearer to hide until someone else could get across.

This is the game where, pardon my frankness, we made the boys OZI our bitches J. 9 to 3 was the final score, with Ballistic scoring 3 flags, Camo one (and a hell of a lot of kills) and myself 5, which I can tell you I was quite chuffed about. We had them done all ends up pretty early on. At one point they did tie it up 2 flags all, but then Camo, Ballistic and I ran a formation whereby one person would do a flag nab, the other two would cover him by running nearby and acting as targets/decoys so the flag bearer could get to the bay, and then the flag bearer would wait until someone else got back to the flag ripsaw before they dumped it in the bay. Worked very well and the momentum we generated was too much for them to match. Once again, Napalm and Dog provided excellent cover for us. Their assaulters had a pretty bad game in this one – I think after we had racked a few up they might have conceded their loss. Even their snipers were off. In the first game they were pretty good…

Last game saw the same map as the second, but with the flag bays in different areas, this time to our left, not in our ripsaw. A very tough and close game this one. The only difference in scores being Camo’s well-deserved flag score, which I think everyone will agree, was a team effort in getting it home. We knew they were going to come out hard right from the word go, as our first venture into the flag ripsaw area saw myself, Camo and Ballistic all taken down with the same burst of fire from Blade, which brought about a collective “shit” on Roger Wilco. The fact we were running as a threesome probably didn’t help, hehe. Anyways, a tight struggle took place, with no one really dominating proceedings. Their snipers found their touch again, and on many an occasion, both teams came within metres of dumping the flag in the bay before being taken out. OZI even had a chance right in the last minute to square the game up, but luckily we came away with it. Sorry there are no screenshots or official scores to post, but I think we all assumed someone else was gonna screenshot the final scores, and no one ended up doing it hehe. Good win, even if it was just a social game.
